Cuisine

Indonesia

Indonesia is thousands of islands and hundreds of regional cuisines, tied together by rice, sambal, coconut milk, peanuts and spice pastes called bumbu. Java favours slightly sweet dishes made with thick kecap manis soy sauce, Sumatra the fiery curries of Minangkabau and Padang cooking, and Bali roast pork. Tempeh, a fermented soybean cake from Java, is an important source of protein.
