About the dish

Lassi is a yoghurt drink from the north of the Indian subcontinent, most closely linked with Punjab on both sides of the India–Pakistan border. Thick yoghurt is whisked with a little water or milk into a frothy, creamy drink. Sweet lassi is flavoured with sugar, cardamom and sometimes rose water and crowned with a layer of cream; salted lassi with salt and roasted cumin. Mango lassi is also popular. It is drunk chilled, in the heat or with spicy food, and in Punjab also as a filling breakfast.
