Cuisine
Turkmenistan
Turkmen cooking comes from a harsh desert land of herders: it is dominated by mutton, rice, flour and milk, with bread baked in a clay tamdyr oven. Many dishes are shared with Uzbek, Iranian and Turkish cooking. The centrepiece of holidays and weddings is plov, washed down with green tea and fermented camel's milk.
