Cuisine
Sweden
Swedish cooking combines a plain rural tradition with a love of celebrating at the table. Potatoes, fish – above all herring and salmon – game, lingonberries and dark bread are its foundations, and the famous smörgåsbord brings them all together at festive times. A daily ritual is fika, a break for coffee with a sweet bun or a biscuit.
