St. Vincent & Grenadines
The cooking of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is farm and fishing food, rooted in the island's fertile volcanic soil and in the sea. Breadfruit, dasheen and eddo, arrowroot, bananas and fresh fish all play a big part. African, Caribbean, British and French influences show in its soups, stews and coconut dishes. Breadfruit holds a special place, and the island celebrates it every year with a festival.
