Cuisine
Paraguay
Paraguayan cooking is built on corn, cassava (mandioca) and cheese, with roots in Guaraní traditions blended with Spanish ones. Boiled cassava comes with many meals the way bread does elsewhere, and on hot days people drink tereré – cold yerba mate with iced water and herbs. Many dishes are traditionally baked in a clay oven called a tatakua.
