Cuisine
Latvia
Latvian cooking is modest and seasonal: rye bread, peas and beans, potatoes, pork, Baltic fish, kefir and curd cheese. Many dishes are tied to festivals, above all the midsummer feast of Jāņi with its caraway cheese and grilled meats. Wild mushrooms and forest berries are plentiful too.
