Cuisine
Fiji
Fijian food brings together the traditions of the Indigenous iTaukei and of Indo-Fijians. Everyday staples are taro (dalo), cassava, fish, seafood and lots of coconut milk, celebrations call for a lovo feast from an earth oven, and curries with roti are as much a part of daily life as local dishes. Yaqona, or kava, drunk at ceremonies and gatherings, plays an important social role.
