Cuisine
Timor-Leste
The food of Timor-Leste is simple and based on what grows on the island: maize, rice, cassava, sweet potatoes, beans and pumpkin, with fish along the coast. Indonesian and Portuguese influences are visible, and Chinese ones in the towns. Dishes come with a fiery sambal, and the coffee from mountain plantations is a source of national pride.
