Cuisine
Slovakia
Slovak cooking grew out of mountain and village life: potatoes, cabbage, flour, pork and sheep's cheeses from shepherds' huts are its foundation. It shares many dishes with Czech, Hungarian and Polish cooking, but the most Slovak of all are those made with bryndza cheese. At Christmas the table holds kapustnica, a sour sauerkraut soup.
