Cuisine
Bahrain
The cooking of Bahrain, an island nation in the Persian Gulf, is built on fish and seafood, rice and spices, with clear Persian and Indian influences. Its most important dish is machboos, and its sweet calling card is Bahraini halwa made from sugar, starch, saffron and nuts. Dates are served alongside cardamom coffee.
